哈利波特與魔法石Diagon Alley (八)

　　Griphook was yet another goblin. Once Hagrid had crammed all the dog biscuits back inside his pockets, he and Harry followed Griphook toward one of the doors leading off the hall.

　　"What's the You-Know-What in vault seven hundred and thirteen?" Harry asked.

　　"Can't tell yeh that," said Hagrid mysteriously. "Very secret. Hogwarts business. Dumbledore's trusted  me. More'n my job's worth ter tell yeh that."

　　Griphook held the door open for them. Harry, who had expected more marble, was surprised. They were in a narrow stone passageway lit with flaming torches. It sloped steeply downward and there were little railway tracks on the floor. Griphook whistled and a small cart came hurtling up the tracks toward them. They climbed in -- Hagrid with some difficulty -- and were off.

　　At first they just hurtled through a maze of twisting passages. Harry tried to remember, left, right, right, left, middle fork, right, left, but it was impossible. The rattling cart seemed to know its own way, because Griphook wasn't steering.

　　Harry's eyes stung as the cold air rushed past them, but he kept them wide open. Once, he thought he saw a burst of fire at the end of a passage and twisted around to see if it was a dragon, but too late - - they plunged even deeper, passing an underground lake where huge stalactites and stalagmites grew from the ceiling and floor.

　　I never know," Harry called to Hagrid over the noise of the cart, "what's the difference between a stalagmite and a stalactite?"

　　"Stalagmite's got an 'm' in it," said Hagrid. "An' don' ask me questions just now, I think I'm gonna be sick."

　　He did look very green, and when the cart stopped at last beside a small door in the passage wall, Hagrid got out and had to lean against the wall to stop his knees from trembling.

　　Griphook unlocked the door. A lot of green smoke came billowing out, and as it cleared, Harry gasped. Inside were mounds of gold coins. Columns of silver. Heaps of little bronze Knuts.

　　"All yours," smiled Hagrid.

　　All Harry's -- it was incredible. The Dursleys couldn't have known about this or they'd have had it from him faster than blinking. How often had they complained how much Harry cost them to keep? And all the time there had been a small fortune belonging to him, buried deep under London.

　　Hagrid helped Harry pile some of it into a bag.

　　"The gold ones are Galleons," he explained. "Seventeen silver Sickles to a Galleon and twenty-nine Knuts to a Sickle, it's easy enough. Right, that should be enough fer a couple o' terms, we'll keep the rest safe for yeh." He turned to Griphook. "Vault seven hundred and thirteen now, please, and can we go more slowly?"

　　"One speed only," said Griphook.

格里霍克是另一個(gè)惡魔，哈格力一次性地把所有的狗餅干又塞回到他的口袋里，然后與哈利一起跟著格里霍克從門(mén)口走出。

　　"不能告訴你，"哈格力神秘地說(shuō)："這事得十分保密才行。丹伯多信任我，告訴你就超出了我的職權(quán)范圍。"格里霍克他們開(kāi)了門(mén)。哈利十分驚訝，他原以為可以看到更多的大理石，但現(xiàn)在他們卻身處一條由燃燒著的火把照明的狹窄的石頭通道里。這里的通道十分陡峭地向下延伸，地上有些很小的鐵路軌道。格里霍克吹了一聲口哨，一輛小車便沿著軌道向他們駛來(lái)。

　　他們爬上去——哈利顯得有些吃力——然后車便開(kāi)動(dòng)了。

　　一開(kāi)始，他們只是穿過(guò)一些彎彎曲曲的迷宮似的通道，哈利想盡力記住，轉(zhuǎn)左、轉(zhuǎn)右、轉(zhuǎn)右、轉(zhuǎn)左、交叉，再轉(zhuǎn)右、再轉(zhuǎn)右，但這幾乎是不可能的，飛速行駛的小車似乎知道他自己的路似的，因?yàn)楦窭锘艨烁緵](méi)有駕駛它。

　　冷空氣呼呼地吹過(guò)，刺痛了哈利的眼睛，但他還是盡力睜開(kāi)眼。有一次，他認(rèn)為他看見(jiàn)了一團(tuán)火在小路的盡頭就轉(zhuǎn)過(guò)去看看是否是一條龍，但是太遲了。他們向更深處駛來(lái)，超過(guò)了一座地下湖，那里巨大的鐘乳石和石筍從天花板上地底下冒出來(lái)。

　　"我從不知道鐘乳石和石筍有什么不同？"哈利大聲地說(shuō)道，聲音蓋過(guò)了小車發(fā)出的噪聲。

　　"鐘乳石這個(gè)單詞有個(gè)'m '在里面。"哈格力說(shuō)，"不要問(wèn)我問(wèn)題了，我想我是病了。"看上去確實(shí)臉色發(fā)青。當(dāng)小車在一扇小門(mén)邊停下來(lái)的時(shí)候，哈格力走出來(lái)，不得不靠住墻使自己的膝蓋停止顫抖。

　　格里霍克打開(kāi)鎖，一陣綠色的煙霧翻滾出來(lái)，當(dāng)它散開(kāi)之后，哈利已經(jīng)有點(diǎn)喘不過(guò)氣來(lái)了。房子里面是成堆的金幣，一片銀幣以及大量的青銅幣。

　　"全部都是你的了。"哈格力笑著說(shuō)道。

　　全部都是哈利的——簡(jiǎn)直無(wú)法相信，杜斯利不可能知道這些，否則他們?cè)谝徽ｉg的功夫里就把這些從他那里拿走了，他們是不是經(jīng)常抱怨哈利讓他們花了大筆的錢(qián)來(lái)保存這些財(cái)金呢？總之，一直以來(lái)就有這么一大筆埋藏在倫敦城下的財(cái)富是屬于他的。

　　哈格力幫哈利裝一些錢(qián)到袋子里。

　　"金色的稱為帆船幣，"他解釋道，"17個(gè)鐮刀幣等于一個(gè)帆船幣，而29個(gè)克拉幣等于一個(gè)鐮刀幣，簡(jiǎn)單極了。好了，這些錢(qián)來(lái)支付兩個(gè)學(xué)期的費(fèi)用足夠了。我們會(huì)幫你保存剩下那部分錢(qián)的。"他轉(zhuǎn)向格里霍克，"現(xiàn)在請(qǐng)帶我們?nèi)?span lang="EN-US">713號(hào)金庫(kù)，我們能走得再慢點(diǎn)嗎？""只有一種速度。"格里霍克說(shuō)。
