B: Oh! We have four divisions, including the Medical Sciences Division, the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division, the Social Sciences Division, the Humanities Division, among which three are for Science and merely one is for Arts. Which division do you want to enquire about?

B: Ok. Oxford is at the forefront of Humanities research internationally, so it attracts outstanding students, academics and researchers from across the globe. The Humanities Division comprises about one third of the University in terms of academic staff and students, with nearly 1,500 graduate students.

B: Well, the Division offers taught graduate degrees and research degrees in a wide range of subjects. Some of these subjects are relatively new, crossing the boundaries④ of traditional disciplines，while others are areas of academic research that have long been recognised as of central importance,

A: I don’t quite understand the meaning of “taught graduate degrees” and “research degrees”. What are their differences?

B:“taught graduate degrees” is same to “Master’s degrees，" and “research degrees” can also be called as “Doctoral Degrees，，.

B: Faculties in the Humanities Division offer a wide range of subjects. Simultaneously, or more Doctoral Degrees. There are over 500 students studying for Master 5s degrees in the Division, and nearly 900 students studying for doctoral degrees.
